2009 Demolition Derby Results

Demolition Derby's run at the Washington Fairgrounds are under the direction of Mike Martin of Martin Motorsports and his crew. All Derby's run at the Washington County Fairgrounds run on a point system. Drivers pay an additional $5 per car at inspection that goes toward year end aards. Banquet held in the fall for year-end awards.

Rules and Regulations

QUALIFICATIONS - All entrants must be at least 18 years of age. Anyone under the age of 18 MUST have a signed consent form from a parent or guardian. MUST BE AT LEAST 14 yrs of age.
SAFETY – All entrants MUST wear a full bell helmet, long sleeve shirt and long leg pants. Race suits are preferred. SAFETY BELT MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON TRACK!
ENTRY FEE - $20.00 for car and driver's pit pass. All helpers in the pit area must have a $20.00 pit pass. EVERYONE IN THE PIT AREA MUST BE AT LEAST 14 YEARS OF AGE!
ELIGIBLE CARS - Any stock type automobile foreign or domestic may be used with the exception of trucks, convertibles, smashed station wagons, mini vans and ALL COMMERCIAL VEHICLES such as Checker Cabs, Hurst, Etc…All entrants must pay registration fee.
GLASS, TRIM & LOOSE OBJECTS – ALL Glass (Including Windshield) must be removed from vehicle as well as ALL moldings, mirrors, antenna’s, ETC… All broken glass must be removed from vehicle.
BODY & FRAME – ALL doors may be welded (door to door, door to fender, door to quarter panel) Not along roof or rocker panels. OPEN HOOD & OPEN TRUNK (NO Exceptions). Must have a 10” opening in hood panel. Fenders may not be trimmed any higher than height of tire. Must have a stock body mounts. ABSOLUTLY NO REINFORCEMENTS TO BODY OR FRAME! (No welding of transmission mounts, suspension parts, etc…) ONLY four bands sheet metal to sheet metal. No banding to frame! Judges Discretion!!!
SUSPENSION – MUST BE STOCK SUSPENSION. All shocks must be in working order and stock location. All spring configurations must be stock application only. NO ADDITIONAL LEAF SPRINGS. No clamping of shocks or springs allowed. Air shocks are permitted.
BATTERY – ALL batteries must be removed from stock location. Battery must be mounted inside the passengers compartment Securely and a cover over it (Battery Box Preferred).
GAS TANKS – ALL gas tanks must be removed from stock location. Must be moved inside passengers compartment behind drivers seat. Must be tied down securely and covered with METAL FIREWALL. No exposed gas line in drivers compartment. You may use 5 to 6 gallon jerry can, fuel cell, boat tank or some OEM tanks with electric fuel pumps. NO GAS CANS!!!
TIRES – Full size car tires not to exceed the size of 235-70-15. Four cylinder cars not to exceed the size of 215-70-15. ABSOLUTELY NO TRACTOR TIRES, BUCKSHOT, GUMBO MUDDER and ANY OTHER TYPES OF EXOTIC TIRES! (JUDGES DISCRETION)
BUMPERS –STOCK BUMPERS per application of vehicle (NO MODIFICATIONS) may be welded to bumper shock absorbers and bumper shock absorbers may be tack welded only. Bumper height on full size cars not to exceed 25” from bottom of the bumper to ground. Four cylinder car height not to exceed 18”. NO WELDING TO FRAME!!!
EXHAUST – Must extend past drivers seat under car or through hood of car.
SAFETY BARS – May have a bar in front of driver, door post to door post and behind the driver seat door post to door post and on drivers side only front to rear bar. Bars may be welded or bolted to door post. Bar not to exceed 2” in diameter.
PAINT & NUMBER – ALL cars must have readable numbers on both sides of car and on roof area. No profanity painted on cars will be tolerated.
CONTACT RULE – Every driver must make contact within 30 seconds. Last two drivers remaining will receive 60 seconds. Hitting in drivers door will be cause for DISQUALIFICATION! You as a driver must make contact within time required. ABSOLUTELY NO SAND BAGGING will be tolerated. TEAMING UP will be cause for disqualification.
DISQUALIFICATION & PROTEST – ALCOHOL, DRUGS, FIGHTING, FOUL OR ABUSIVE LANGUAGE will be cause for DISQUALIFICATION. NO EXCEPTIONS! Protest fee of $100.00 per car will be paid to an Official before reinspection of protested car. Any two drivers may assist reinspection.
INSPECTION – One time inspection. If time allows you may get a second chance. All drivers must be in compliance with all rules listed above. Inspection ends promptly 30 minutes before showtime.

NOTE: Heat 1 will consist of all front wheel drive V-6 Cars ONLY! ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS! RULES ARE SUBJECT TO REVISION, JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL! ABANDONED VEHICLES LEFT OVER 24 HR PERIOD will become Fair Board property unless other arrangements have been made. Fair Board reserves the right for admission charges.
